Till Bronner - Oceana

German jazz trumpeter Till Bronner delivers an album of sophistication and subtle beauty with the release of his ninth solo and Emarcy debut, Oceana. Bronner reaches an impressive amount of maturity on this album by straying away from the smooth jazz sounds from some of his earlier recordings and focusing on the rich pointed sound of his trumpet that is heard in more mainstream jazz today. Listeners will get a taste of the sensual jazz grooves that make up his set when he embarks on a U.S. tour this spring in support of his new album, in stores April 17th.

Oceana , produced by Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Peter Gabriel), features guest performances by Madelene Peyroux on “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” former supermodel and French chanteuse Carla Bruni on “In My Secret Life” and Brazilian jazz singer Luciana Souza on “Pra Dizer Adeus.” Bronner also treats the listener with his smooth rich vocals on his version of Nick Drake’s “River Man” and on the Burt Bacharach/Hal David tune “This Guy’s In Love With You.”

He continues to keep busy by wearing the many hats of jazz musician, trumpet player, singer, composer, arranger and producer. He has collaborated with a diverse group of artists including Pat Metheny, Tony Bennett, Chaka Khan and Natalie Cole to name a few. Most recently Bronner produced Mark Murphy’s new album Love Is What Strays (Verve) and Thomas Quasthoff’s new jazz album entitledWatch What Happens (Deutsche Grammophon)—in stores February 13th. He will join Quastoff in concert on March 7th at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/ Perelman in New York City. Bronner’s solo U.S. tour dates will be announced soon.
