Over the past decade, electronic music pioneers Thievery Corporation have garnered an immense global following with their ambitious sonic exploration and groundbreaking, hypnotic blend of psychotropic rock, future bossa, breaks, and dub. On January 24, 2006, ESL Music will reissue an expanded, digipak version of the album often credited with inventing an entire genre -- the classic 1997 LP debut 'Sounds From Thievery Hi-Fi,' completely repackaged and featuring two never-before-released B-sides from the original recording session.

Acclaimed upon its release as "a work of deep and richly layered beauty" (The Guardian, 'Hi-Fi' (which was dedicated to the memory of Brazilian legend Antonio Carlos Jobim) notched 8 out of 10 stars from SPIN magazine, who hailed Thievery's knack for "layering dub, bossa nova and chop-socky swipes in a remarkably stately manner...'Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi'...swings so hard and sways so gentle."

Two bonus tracks recorded during the original sessions -- previously unavailable except as now-coveted limited edition vinyl releases -- top off the now 17 -song disc: "Sun, Moon & Stars," a house-tempo dub gem with lush strings amidst a wash of echo chamber atmospherics, and "Sleeper Car," Thievery's moody homage to 1960's spy films.

Formed in 1996 by Eric Hilton and Rob Garza, Thievery Corporation have sold over a million copies of DJ mix albums, remix records, and their five critically acclaimed artist albums. They garnered a Grammy for the hit track "Lebanese Blonde" (featured on the 'Garden State' soundtrack) and their most recent release 'The Cosmic Game' is the duo's fastest selling album to date.
