The Stills is a four-piece band from Montreal, now based out of New York City. These multilingual art school socialists create a majestic wall of sound through a distinctive brand of ghostly, swirling pop, with haunting melodies, artfully crafted songwriting and a majestic wave of sonic explorations.
Having played music together in various bands since the age of 12, and now in their early twenties, THE STILLS (singer Tim Fletcher, drummer Dave Hamelin, guitarist Greg Paquet and bassist Oliver Crow) seem almost capable of communicating with each other telepathically.
The Stills
Three summers ago, a friend of theirs got into some trouble with the authorities in Barcelona. In desperate need of cash, he begged them to go to his apartment, take anything from his room and wire him a hundred dollars. They chose his 4-track machine. Tim and Dave alternated weeks with the machine and began their songwriting obsession. Those songs are on their new EP - Rememberese.
The Stills spent last summer in New York staying with friends and sleeping on sofas. After playing shows every week, they quickly gained a growing and extremely loyal fan base throughout New York's underground scene, playing and touring with Interpol, The Rapture The Yeah Yeah Yeah's and The Streets.
