The Presets break a two-year studio silence with their new single 'My People'. To the uninitiated The Presets are Julian Hamilton and Kimberley Moyes, Aussie wizards of demented electro pop. Their debut album Beams hit Australian shores late 2005 and the ensuing singles 'Are You The One?', 'Down Down Down', 'Girl and The Sea' and 'I Go Hard, I Go Home' have become bona fide dancefloor fillers and faves on both radio and TV.
There's a palpable sense that all this live experience has carried its energy into the studio. As a taster to their sophomore album (landing early 2008), 'My People' is gargantuan. A snarling beast of a record, it bristles with fuzzy scratches of guitar snaps, bubbling arpeggiated synths and an instantly memorable, call-and-response, chanted hook. The song sounds like the rattling of an electrified disco zombie chain gain.
