On the heels of their recently released Consider This A Confession EP, Chicago's STATE AND MADISON have announced their brand new single, "If This Was The Moon," set for a digital-only release Tuesday, February 12 at iTunes. Recorded with Producer/Engineer J. Hall in the midst of their fall midwest tour, "Moon" showcases the quartet's continuous musical evolution and signature indie-rock hybrid as they forge ahead into 2008.
As a special bonus to the new single, the band will also release the B-Side track "The Choice" that same day. The previously unreleased song is taken from 2006's Simplicity Is The Name Of The Game sessions.
STATE AND MADISON have also announced their hometown return to Chicago's Metro on Thursday, February 28 when they'll support Ludo's CD release show presented by Q101. The appearance marks S&M's first performance at the legendary venue since January 2006. Tickets for the special engagement are on sale now via Ticketmaster.com.
Also in conjunction with the upcoming releases and Chicago show, STATE AND MADISON will unveil a brand-new website on February 1 at www.stateandmadison.net with an all-new design and special clues to fans as they anticipate the band's next big surprise.
Meanwhile, the band's Consider This A Confession EP continues to pick up steam across the midwest and beyond, with recent highlights of the band included in the Chicago Sun-Times, Omaha World Herald, and Independence Examiner along with TV performance and profiles on Good Day Tulsa and Three Guys Pickin', among others. biography
Trying to navigate through an over-saturated and over-hyped musical climate can be a daunting task—that is, unless you’re looking at the genre-bending evolution of rock, indie, and pop delivered by Chicago’s STATE AND MADISON. With the release of their new EP, CONSIDER THIS A CONFESSION, STATE AND MADISON rise to the occasion of delivering a sound and style to the music world at just the right time.
Brought together by their mutual passion for music, Chicago natives Nickolas Blazina (vocals/guitar), Jonah Kort (drums), Anthony Martino (bass/vocals), and Mark Tatara (guitar/vocals) bound to form STATE AND MADISON in 2005. The band quickly pronounced their stylistic hybrid, as they displayed a knack for penning hook-filled melodies set to infectious rhythmic pulses and forging rock energy.
STATE AND MADISON’s exponential talent is a real showcase of their musical development, which among them spans a range of genres and experiences from musical theatre to fledging garage bands and jamming in the church. It’s this mesh of backgrounds that make the band’s blend of sounds so unique.
Confession follows STATE AND MADISON’s 2006 release, Simplicity Is The Name Of The Game—which set the stage for the band’s blast through the midwest music scenes, introducing listeners to their danceably unique blend of indie-meets-alternative. Throughout their constant touring, writing and recording, the band’s organic and energetic growth blossomed while picking up fans along the way.
With the release of Consider This A Confession, STATE AND MADISON continues to break through the forefront of Chicago’s own indie-rock scene and now find themselves poised to invade stereos nationwide.
