On Tuesday, January 24, 2006, Sound The Alarm will release a self-titled EP featuring six irresistible and well-crafted pop/punk gems. This is the Rock Ridge Music debut from this young, Pennsylvania-based group.
Consisting of songs that scored the pop/punk band industry buzz and tunes written for their first full-length album, this EP chronicles the band’s early beginnings.
The songs are an impressive example of multi-layered modern rock which belie the band’s young age.
Sound The Alarm was formed in 1999 in the small town of Bangor, PA, after 12-year-old Brian Chiusano was kicked out of his older brother’s band. Not to be deterred, Brian formed his new outfit with childhood friends Cody Jancovic (vocals), Rick Stephans (drums), and Colin Ellis (bass). While attending high school, they came across “the new kid in town” Joe Brule (Guitar/Vocals). With a mutual love of music, Joe joined the band and added a second voice and thicker guitar sound.
“Our EP is a collection of our past, present and future,” said Chiusano. He continued, “We agreed it would be a good idea to put out a well-rounded ‘chronology’ of what we've become and how we've grown in these over these few crazy years.”
The songs on the Sound The Alarm EP range from the anthemic opener “Fools and Thieves” to the new wave vibe of “Waiting For Winter.” The album’s other tunes are just as memorable, including the bold “Suffocate To Stay Alive,” the biting “Cutting Deep,” the powerful “Never Let You Down,” and the instantly catchy “Prove Them Wrong.” All of the songs showcase a band with strong skills as musicians, composers, and lyricists.
Formerly known as Sleepwell, Sound The Alarm has opened for such groups as The Starting Line, Hidden In Plain View, A Static Lullaby and Sum 41, and continues to play live frequently since being granted early graduation from high school. Sound The Alarm plan to release their major label debut sometime in late 2006 on Geffen Records.
