Rami Perlman son of living-legend violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman was introduced to music at conception.

With Vivaldi, and Mozart perpetually searing from his father’s study, and mainstream pop radio saturating his youthful ears (like any child in the 80’s), Rami’s bevy of musical influences was forged. Young Perlman was classically trained at The Manhattan School of Music where he learned to play every instrument he could get his hands on.

Rami met Josh Eichenbaum while attending Brown University where josh studied computer music and composition. During this time, Rami was writing straight-from0the-heart, bare bones regular songs, and the two recorded during their senior year. Upon graduation, Rami moved home to New York City, while Eichenbaum moved to LA working as a sound engineer cutting spots for commercials and movie trailers.

After a short US tour drumming for indie garage pretty boys The Natural History (Star Time International), Rami decided to make the move to LA in order to focus on his own musical vision.

Something for Rockets was born. After completing a self-titled 3-song EP, they began generating a massive buzz in the LA area, selling out The Echo, Knitting Factory, and The Schene regularly, and opening for Fannypack and A.R.E. Weapons. But eventually, Rami and Josh wanted to expand their onstage sound. Enter jazz-trained Barry Davis, ex-drummer of Boston’s Mori Stylez, a fusion outfit with a local cult following that Davis later left to join LA’s The Actual. With a sensitive touch and keen feel for many different styles, Davis slid perfectly into Something for Rockets musical stew.

Something for Rockets infuse hypnotic dance-floor beats with lush melody and poignant lyrics. Evocative, intelligent, and stylish, the result is a sound that is vintage and future, dark and playful, all anchored by the romantic sentiment of young-and-hopeless self-destruction. And they’re fun to watch! Something for Rockets delights their audience with electric live shows, which often turn uncontrollably into dance parties.
