Slumplordz 'Sunnmoonsekt' album

I don?t have to tell you who the Slumplordz are because you, as our main visitor ;), have read the artist feature article about them. If not then you have missed something, read it here.

This album is a re-release of their self-titled album out 1999. Record company Stray Records have released it. Nothing has been changed or added to it but there is big chance you havenot heard the first release because it truly is an underground album (still is). Everything on this album isnot made for the masses but for the true HipHop headz :7.

All tracks have a different kind of beat then you will find on other albums which makes it very interesting to listen to. If you will listen more to it is the question but there surely will be songs that will want to listen some more.

?Area 33rd? is the first track and starts very slow. Not many beats but just enough to keep your head nodding. ?Hypno? is Moon?s solo joint and he flows steadily to the end. To be honest I found that Moon has a better flow then Hard Rard. Hard Rard flows a little bit on one tone. Most of the songs are a bit of the same style. The songs do have a different beat but it always has the same style. You will hear one beat with a couple of beats very low on the background. But naturally the Slumplordz also have recorded some different tracks to add some more flavour to the album (thankfully).

?Here comes tha Sunn? is the first track with a bit more tempo in it to bring more diversity. There is even a woman singing the refrain. Normally I wouldnot like to hear a woman on an underground HipHop album but in this case I will make an exception. When I start with track number eight ?Violint? there insteadly drops a dope beat where, I think, Moon starts synchronous rapping to making it very dope!

Ohh I havenot told you that on this album there arenot any skits. The Slumplordz have listened to what the people like and said no to skits *D. But then at track 10 ?Town Shit? I thought it was a skit because of the low voices. I stopped the track and listened very carefully to hear that it isnot a skit but a real song! The Slumplordz just recorded the track on a tape level.

Maybe at the mid of the album you start irrating yourself because of the same type of songs. Well starting from track 12 & 13 ?Dethblow? and ?Qwaze/D.Mic? will change that. The beats are more lively and brighter. The last track ?Twisted Metal Rejekts? will give you a very hard beat and the first (guest)rapper flows tight.

So listening like 54 minutes to The Slumplordz you can say that I have listened to a HipHop group that has a style I havenot heard yet (or not that much). Most of the album has a bit of a slow flow (beat is slow and so are the flows). It is very dope that the Slumplordz can make dope songs from just a couple of beats. They have created an album just for the real connoisseurs and/or for the genre lovers between us.
