Atlantic recording group Shinedown landed the biggest debut of their career today, with "The Sound Of Madness" debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200 album chart. This marks the first Top 10 album of the band's career. "We put a lot of work into this record," commented lead singer Brent Smith. "I was determined from the beginning to make an album that people would feel was important to them and the world around them. I know we've accomplished that, and it seems that not only our longtime fans, but a lot of new fans, are reacting to what they're hearing. We're very thankful for that."
Produced by multiple Grammy Award-winner Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day, My Chemical Romance), "The Sound Of Madness" got off to a monstrous start when its first single, "Devour," became Shinedown's eighth consecutive Top 5 hit at rock radio. The video for "Devour" is out now. With other tracks like "Second Chance," "Breaking Inside," and "The Crow & The Butterfly," Shinedown are sure to continue their streak of success on the airwaves.
The Jacksonville, Florida-based rock outfit will be out on tour all summer long in support of their new album.

"THE SOUND OF MADNESS" is unquestionably Shinedown's most powerful work to date. Frontman Brent Smith recently described it as "an explosive re-invention of sound... beyond just being some of heaviest material we've ever recorded, Rob really helped us make the entire album sound larger than life and take on the epic nature that each song demanded."
"As a producer, I need the bands I work with to bring me amazing songs," said Rob Cavallo. "Shinedown did that and beyond! Brent Smith and his band are amazing people and awesome to work with. I am extremely proud of this record and can't wait for the rest of the world to hear it!"
The Florida foursome exploded onto the rock scene in 2003 with their breakthrough debut, "LEAVE A WHISPER." The RIAA platinum-certified album featured a quartet of Top 5 rock radio smashes: "Fly From The Inside," "45," "Simple Man," and "Burning Bright." In 2005, Shinedown followed up their initial success with "US AND THEM." The RIAA gold-certified collection was highlighted by the #1 blockbuster, "Save Me," which dominated Active Rock radio for a stunning twelve consecutive weeks, followed by two further Top 5 hits in "Heroes" and "I Dare You."
From the start, Shinedown have proven to be true road warriors, touring nearly non-stop to bring their hard-edged rock 'n' roll to fans across the country. The band has performed countless headline dates, and shared stages with the likes of Seether, Van Halen, 3 Doors Down, Rob Zombie, and Godsmack.
