Brass Tacks/DRT have signed the Scotch Greens. Their new album, Professional, was produced by Ted Hutt (MXPX, Flogging Molly, Go Betty Go) and is scheduled for release in 2006 (USA: April 4; Europe: March 13).
“I’m really very excited that the Scotch Greens will be the first signing on our Brass Tacks imprint,” said Street Dogs’ lead singer and Brass Tacks co-founder Mike McColgan upon the announcement. “There aren’t many artists out there that combine their unique blend of drunken roustabout, folk, swing and rock ‘n roll. We couldn’t be happier to have them aboard.”
Commented Scotch Greens lead singer Zander Cox: “Brass Tacks is a great label for the Scotch Greens. We're looking forward to the new album coming out and hitting the road with Gogol Bordello and Throw Rag. Here we come!"
Formed in 1998 in Idaho and recently relocated to San Diego, the Scotch Greens blend punk rock, bluegrass, and American roots music to form a distinctive sound that challenges and captivates its fans. The band’s self-released album, Draw!, was nominated for Best Rock Album and Album of the Year at the San Diego Music Awards.
