In a time when gangsta rap music ruled the air waves and being a thug was cool, a group called The Pearly Whites was formed: two friends from Orlando, Florida with an original sound and a positive message. With their melodic hooks and mesmerizing rhymes, their talent is undeniable. The two grew up as childhood friends, and with a mutual love for rap music, they began their musical collaboration in high school.
In pursuing their dreams of stardom after high school, they often struggled to find their place in the hip-hop community. With a different background than most, and the current state of gangsta rap music, The Pearly Whites feared acceptance. This fear, as it turns out, became one of their greatest strengths. Rather than fearing what others think of them, they came to embrace where they came from and to cherish their positive, comedic outlook.
Never afraid to write funny, self critical songs, The Pearly Whites composed a debut album full of hilarious tracks, simultaneously delivering neck crunching singles such as "Sometimes" and, "If ever you should fall off track". The album was self-produced by the Pearly Whites, with a low budget in a home studio. Quite literally, the recording booth was designed out of cardboard. The Orlando based duo is set to release "The Cardboard Box Project" in early 2007.
