Don't let the name fool you - this San Diego punk-pop band has never relied on luck to get their music heard. Through hard work, internet savvy, dedicated fans, and word of mouth, LUCKY 7 has generated buzz in their native California and abroad. The growth of a huge national and international fan base proves that LUCKY 7 is a band with mass appeal that knows how to rock a crowd.
Known for their high-energy live shows, LUCKY 7 combines the heavy guitar riffs of rock, the melodic vocals of pop, and the driving beats of punk. By meshing their musical influences - The Who, The Ramones, Jimmy Eat World, Green Day, Guns and Roses, and Elvis Costello - LUCKY 7 has formed a type of California punk that takes the audiences out of the mosh-pit and onto the dance floor.
This independent band has achieved astounding Internet success. With the release of their newest, self-titled album, LUCKY 7, the guys saw amazing activity on the MP3.com website. Only four hours after uploading "California Girl", the song was #1 on the site's Alternative and Punk Charts, with "Come Monday," at #3. 10,000 Downloads in one month proved the band's fans were anxiously awaiting new material. LUCKY 7's history of success on the MP3.com site is extensive; their first year on the site, LUCKY 7's songs earned 3 million downloads on MP3.com, with 1 million downloads every year since. Several of LUCKY 7's songs won recognition as "Best Alternative Song" on MP3.com, Yahoo Internet Life named LUCKY 7 one of the "Top 5 Internet Bands" in 2001, and CNN World Beat featured LUCKY 7 as a Top Internet Band in 1999.
LUCKY 7 continues doing what they enjoy most - playing live. Their passion for performing provides the fuel for LUCKY 7's non-stop touring schedule - they've played sold-out shows on the West Coast, and in Australia - where they co-headlined the Warped Tour Down-Under. After captivating the audience at the renowned Livid Festival, they were signed on the spot by Aussie label, Shock Records. LUCKY 7 toured the U.S. this summer on the Vans Warped Tour, will tour the U.K. tour in January, and will soon travel the U.S. again on the Hard Rock Tour.
The band's new album, "LUCKY 7," was released in October 2002. The self-titled album was recorded at The Village Recording Studios in Hollywood with a top-notch production team that included Producer: Daniel Mendez (Lit, Eve 6) and Mastering Engineer: Bob Ludwig (Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Incubus). GRAMMY winning Mixing Engineer: Tom Lord-Alge (The Rolling Stones, Weezer, Dave Matthews, Sum 41) was initially scheduled to mix two of the album's tracks, but became such a fan of the band's sound that he opted to work on the entire album.
With a new home on U.S. indie label, Omega Records (RED Distribution), LUCKY 7 is preparing to take their new sound to an even larger worldwide audience.
