Kottonmouth Kings 'The Green Album' album

An Underground revolution, and always against the grain the Kottonmouth Kings continue to release ground breaking albums on their own label Suburban Noize Records. With soundscan numbers in the millions and packed houses across the country, Kottonmouth Kings have been laying the foundation of one of today's most radical music movements in America and beyond. Combining mind-bending sonics, fusing Hip Hop, Punk Rock, and soul-flavored classics, The Kings have innovated and pioneered their own sound that has set them apart from the pack. The Kings have proved their lasting staying power redefining the meaning of a self empowered group. They are an institution in the sub-culture of America, running their own clothing company and label that hosts 24 other acts.

Kottonmouth Kings comprise of Daddy X, the former frontman of Humble Gods, Lou Dog, D-Loc, Johnny Richter, DJ Bobby B, Taxman and Pakelika, who serves as "visual assassin" for the group.[1] The group first attracted attention with the song "Suburban Life," which appeared on the soundtrack to the film Scream 2.

For most hip-hop acts, being in the game for over a decade is reason enough to feel content. But for Southern California's own Kottonmouth Kings, blending rap and punk rock styles is only the beginning of the story. Releasing ten albums over the past nine years, the Kottonmouth Kings are more than a seven-man hip-hop crew. Their tenth full-length release, The Green Album is due out October 28th on Suburban Noize Records and the single "Where Am I Going?" impacts Alternative on November 4th.

"The Green Album" blends together hip-hop, punk-rock and soulful acoustics and is anchored by collaborations with hip-hop's hottest rapper, Tech N9ne, on "Sex Toy", Oregon's king of rhyme, the Dirtball on "Green Grass" and hip-hop legend Brother J of X-Clan with his brand of ancestral wisdom on "Free World".

In an effort to continuously spread their message of peace and positive vibrations the group will be donating a percentage of profits from the sale of album to various environmental causes.

KMK brings thousands of fans from all walks of life together for exciting live shows and incredible music that extends further to albums by the 10 to 15 other artists on their highly successful independent label, Suburban Noize Records. "It's an open-minded, loyal fan base," said emcee-producer Brad "Daddy" X, who founded the Kottonmouth Kings in 1994. "They range from people who love hip-hop to punk rock to stoners to hippies to young kids to old kids to girls. It's a diverse, eclectic mix of people, which is what's so beautiful about it. That's further proof that the Kottonmouth Kings break down barriers between people. There are all types of people at a Kottonmouth Kings show, from hippies, punkers, and hip-hoppers. That's what's great about it. You can't really stereotype it. They're just free-thinking individuals."

The Kottonmouth Kings have been working non-stop since the release of Kottonmouth Kings "Kottonmouth Kings" in May 2005. "Every time we do a new album, it's fun to go on tour," Brad X said. "We add new songs to the set and try to take the show to another level. What excites me about it is getting back to the people and bringing the music live to the people that support it and love it and keep us doing this. Kottonmouth Kings is a different breed than everyone else. That's what makes it unique and special. It's a new beginning in a lot of ways and it's a liberating time for our camp. We're able to work at our own pace, make our own decisions and just run with it. It's been an amazing experience cultivating this following. In a continued effort to raise awareness about environmental and social issues, the Kottonmouth Kings will be donating a percentage of profits from the sale of album to various charities. Donations from the album's proceeds will be made to the SurfRider Foundation an organization that preserves the world's waves and beaches, the wounded soldiers of Ward 57 and Life Rolls On an organization that aids young people whose lives have been affected by spinal cord injuries.

The Kottonmouth Kings currently preparing for the release of their tenth studio release, “The Green Album.” The album is slated for a October 28th release through the group’s own label, Suburban Noize Records, and will feature guest appearances from Strange Music’s Tech N9ne and Brother J from hip-hop legends X-Clan. In an effort to continuously spread their message of peace and positive vibrations the group will be donating a percentage of profits from the sale of album to various environmental causes.

Despite their efforts to spread a message of peace and positivity, California rip-hop hybrids the Kottonmouth Kings were slammed by citizens of Vail, CO who filed complaints to the town of Vail’s Commission on Special Events after the group performed at the city's Spring Back to Vail concert back in April along with rapper Snoop Dogg.

In a recent story entitled "Keeping Vail's Concerts Clean" published by the Vail Daily newspaper the Kings were cited for condoning illegal behavior, while promoters were urged to "take another look at who they allow to perform during both ticketed and free concerts in city limits." The Vail Special Events coordinator Sybill Navas was also quoted as saying, “We would prefer that they were not brought back under the town’s sponsorship,” when asked if the town of Vail ever allow the Kottonmouth Kings back.

In an open letter addressed to the Vail Daily, Kottonmouth Kings frontman Brad “Daddy X” had the following response:

“God bless America! In 2008 and we are still talking about censoring artists. I bet these right wing zealots have quite a porn collection stashed in their closets. While we are at it let's ban dirty dancing, lock up the TV and close down the movie theaters. Let's ban Olympic athletes from competing if they protest the Chinese government, let's cover women with veils from head to toe in garments so they are not provocative. I understand a free community production and family entertainment (I even have a young daughter of my own), but the Kottonmouth Kings concert had a cover charge to get in; we didn't force anyone to be there.”

“Come to think of it church is free, maybe we should put censorship stickers on bibles, because in the pages seems to be a lot of rhetoric about war violence, rape, incest and sex, so I hope they don't let their children hear that stuff.”

“It's funny how people get upset about a group like the Kottonmouth Kings (who spread a message of peace and good vibrations), yet when we were in town there was a bar on every corner and more drunk idiots roaming the streets then I can count. Goes to show you that alcohol is America’s drug of choice.”
