biography
Kool G Rap started his career in 1986, as one-half of the rap duo Kool G Rap and D.J. Polo. Introduced to Marley Marl by D.J. Polo the pair recorded their first 12-inch single "It's A Demo", produced by Marley Marl on Cold Chillin Records. Marley teamed up the young and talented G-Rap with his already established "Juice Crew" which featured "Master Ace", "Craig G" and "Big Daddy Kane" to record the street anthem "The Sympony". With successful singles such as "Poison" and "Streets of New York" G-Rap established himself as a legend in the makings.
Being the first M.C. to bring gangster rap to the east coast, G-Rap had a run of successful albums such as "Road to the Riches", "Wanted Dead or Alive" (featuring the classic "Streets of New York") and "Live and Let Die". After the split between G and D.J. Polo in the early 90's G went on to record solo albums "4,5,6", which featured fellow Queens native "Nas" followed by "Rated XXX" (featuring the street classic talk like sex).
In 98' G released his Roots of Evil album which he says is his best album to date. After a collaboration with the late "Big L", G-Rap landed a deal with Rawkus Records. As the label began promoting his comeback album "The Giancana Story", Rawkus became increasingly entangled in major-label complications, thus prolonging another classic in the making. In the meantime G continued to work hard on numerous features with artists such as "Fat Joe", "Big Pun", "M.O.P" and "Mobb Deep". G also had an appearance in the movie "Brown Sugar" to add under his belt. After the half-hearted release of "The Giancana Story", G formed his own label "Igloo Entertainment" and with a team of young talented mc's, he calls his "5 Family Click" Wife Ma Barker, 40 Cal Hammerz, and Tizmania (a member but does not appear on album) and himself He released the "Click of Respect" album which is destined to be a classic. As for The "Godfather of the Streets" he's currently working on a solo album (no released date as of yet) and has a mix tape entitled "Dead or Alive" with G-Unit's own Dj Whoo Kid which is the real buzz in the streets right now. With a new 5 Family mixtape as well as another solo mixtape for the "Don Giancana" in the works no doubt that this will further establish the legacy of "The First Nigga That Did It".
