The hard-rocking girls of Kittie are making the kind of music their loyal fans have been craving, served up with the release of their new EP, Never Again. The three-song EP was recorded in a basement apartment in London, Ontario during recording sessions for their upcoming full-length album. Never Again will be released by Rock Ridge Music for digital download on February 7, 2006. Kittie will give fans a first listen when they perform at WRIF’S Pre-Superbowl Party in Detroit on February 4th, and on a headlining U.S. tour in April 2006.
The band has been focused on reconnecting with their fans since their departure from long-time label Artemis Records. The songs on Never Again are written and performed by the band without any nod to the music industry at large – these songs are written for their fans as a way of thanking them for years of loyalty. Morgan Lander commented on the release of Never Again; “We are excited to finally have the ability to get new music out to our fans and delighted to be doing so with the help of Rock Ridge Music. This is a unique opportunity to take advantage of the technology that is out there to introduce new material while we complete our forthcoming album.”
Musically, the EP contains an intense blend of the fast-paced and the harmonious. Fans can download the 3-song EP everywhere digital tracks are sold including outlets such as Napster, MusicMatch, Real, Walmart.com and PeerImpact to name a few. iTunes will offer an exclusive 4-track version of the EP which includes bonus track “Everything That Could Have Been.”
Kittie, featuring Morgan Lander (guitar/vocals), Mercedes Lander (drums) and new members Trish Doan (bass), and Tara Macleod (guitar) have sold over 1 million albums in the U.S. since their 2000 Artemis Records debut Spit. Kittie went on to release Oracle (2001) and Until The End (2004), gaining notoriety from metal critics and amassing legions of fans. The Washington Post praised the band’s “chest-rattling rhythms” while Blender stated “[Kittie has] plenty of growl left in them… Morgan lays arena-bound refrains atop head-butt guitars…” Continuing to maintain a tireless tour schedule, Kittie has performed at Ozzfest and rocked the road with the likes of Slipknot and Pantera, filling a void for a female voice in the male-dominated hard rock world.
