Kings of Leon's new record, Only By The Night, has debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart, selling 74,353 records. This marks the highest debut and the largest single sales week for the band in the US. In the UK, Kings of Leon mania has taken on a new dimension with Only By The Night's strong debut at #1 this week selling 220,879. The single "Sex On Fire" is now #1 for the third week in a row. A #1 record with a #1 single at the same time is a rare feat for any artist, let alone an international one. And Only By The Night is also exploding in other countries - the record is #1 in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand as well, while debuting at #4 in Canada.

Radio in the US is also responding to the power of the "Sex On Fire" single. Currently it is one of the biggest gaining songs on the Modern Rock chart and is closing in on the Top 10.

The band have already performed on Saturday Night Live and the Late Show with David Letterman. The Spin cover is also out now. Reviews for Only By The Night have been stellar. Vanity Fair hails the new record as "a big leap forward and genuinely ups the ante," while Spin, in its four-star review, says that the band "still rule with a messy hand, applying rough magic and blurry, slurred imagery to their swashbuckling rock." Rolling Stone says the new record displays "arena-ready largeness" and calls the band "rock heroes," while Entertainment Weekly says the band "bash out spooky, raw-edged riffs that rarely go where you'd expect them to." The NY Daily News, in its 5-star review, exclaimed that the new songs are Kings of Leon's "sturdiest and catchiest to date."

In the UK, Uncut magazine gives the record "Album of the Month" honors and exclaims, "the Kings of Leon aren't impersonating the greats, they're competing with them on an increasingly level playing field." The Observer Music Monthly in its glowing, five-out-of-five-star review salutes the new record as it "boogies, choogles and howls at the moon -- no irony intended, no guilt entertained."

    Kings of Leon tour
Kings of Leon have confirmed their first North American tour in support of the band's new record, ONLY BY THE NIGHT. The album will be released on September 23rd, and the tour kicks off on street date with an exclusive club show at New York's Webster Hall. It will continue through October and November, ending November 19th at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, TN.

Only By The Night's first single, the explosive and memorable "Sex On Fire," will be available on Itunes and impacts at radio next week. The song received its first public airing yesterday, Tuesday, August 5th, on MySpace Music, the band's MySpace page and kingsofleon.com The video is being shot in Los Angeles this week and is being directed by the renowned Sophie Muller.

Starting September 1st, the band is going to begin hosting a series of home movies that document the making of Only By The Night. Every day leading up to the release date, a new home movie will be featured on kingsofleon.com and the band's MySpace page. This Saturday, August 9, they will play the All Points West Festival in Liberty State Park, in Jersey City, NJ.

Only By The Night was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN, and was produced by Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King.
