Have you missed Josh Rouse? We have, too. He’s certainly been busy since the heavily lauded release of his last album, Nashville (Rykodisc, early 2005). Living in beautiful Valencia, Spain and recording incessantly, the prolific Mr. Rouse has been chipping away at something very, very special. We’ll tell you more about it later.
For now… Josh Rouse is pleased to announce that he will release the Bedroom Classics, Vol. 2 EP on November 15 exclusively via iTunes! (Perhaps you’re one of the lucky fans to nab a super rare copy of the Bedroom Classics, Vol. 1 EP — only 750 printed and going for over $200 bucks on eBay.) According to Josh, “Bedroom Classics, Vol. 2 consists of 5 tracks, some instrumental and some with my voice. I’m excited about it, it’s really moody and different from anything I’ve put out.”
Indeed! Largely inspired by Josh’s love of film scores, Vol. 2 will be released on Josh’s own imprint. A limited edition run of CDs is on the way, and will be sold during Josh’s solo tour this winter. Speaking of which, Josh will embark on a European solo tour at the end of November, including a date at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on December 9th. Have no fear, he’ll be making it over to the states in January, previewing songs from his anticipated new album, Subitulo, slated for release in March. Subitulo is heavily influenced by Josh’s move to Spain.
After spending many years in central Tennessee (which came to a close with his most recent album and farewell letter to the city that helped hone his craft, Nashville), Josh packed up his bags, bought a plane ticket and immersed himself into the lifestyle and costumes of the Spanish culture. This influence shines throughout the upbeat (and largely romantic) tenor within each song. Look for the first single and video, “Quiet Town” (a homage to the little Spanish community Altea, where Josh first laid roots upon arrival) to precede the album.
