GLUE is a retro-progressive sounding trio that combines a big boom sound with a helping of soul that independent music is so sorely missing. Consisting of Adeem, djdq, and Maker, GLUE works perfectly as a 3-part effort. Adeem, the group’s front man is best known for being the only emcee to win the Scribble Jam battle twice (FYI: Eminem couldn’t even win once). Maker has proven himself as a producer on the rise with his dense, original production style exemplified on his critically acclaimed solo album and guest productions (most recently the lead single for Psalm One’s Rhymesayers debut). DJDQ, the group’s DJ speaks with his hands. A virtuoso turntablist from the Midwest based Turntablist Crew the Animal Crackers; DJDQ adds the final element to this trio’s sound.
Glue’s strong DIY work ethic has paved the way for their success thus far, constantly hustling and touring the nation in a manner consistent with much better funded artists. As a result, they’ve built a fervent foundation of fans that continue to grow and support everything they do. GLUE has peformed over 250 shows in the last 2 years, including the entire Vans Warped Tour in 2004 and 4 separate nationwide tours independently booked (opening up for, among others, Matisyahu, Atmosphere, Jurassic 5 & Aesop Rock). If you haven’t already, you can be certain to hear of a Glue show coming through your town soon as the group will be going out with Epitaph Recording artist Sol-iLLaquists of Sound in September, 2006.
Quite impressively, Glue has independently pressed and sold over 10,000 units of their debut album Seconds Away which they distributed themselves entirely via venue sales and their website. In 2005, they recorded and released an EP entitled Sunset Lodge on Cincinnati based, Shake It Records that landed on many tastemaker “Best Of” lists and garnered an overwhelmingly enthusiastic reception at press.
Glue has just finished their new full-length album, Catch As Catch Can and a September 2006 release on Fat Beats Records in the works. The buzz is definitely building and it wouldn’t be a stretch to say something special is on the horizon for Glue. Don’t miss out!
