George Michael has sold more than eighty million records worldwide. George Michael has had Six number One singles in America, from his solo debut album.
He hates American newspapers, but loves Sex and the City and the Sopranos.
George Michael has had eleven British number Ones singles and six number one albums.
He is not fond of politicians.
George Michael was born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou born on June 25 1963 in North London.
He wrote "Careless Whisper" at the age of 17 .
As a member of Wham, the chart topping band that he formed with boyhood friend, Andrew Ridgley, he wore some memorable outfits.
Post Wham!, he and Ridgley, and members of Bananarama, and other pop stars at the time went Christmas carol singing for charity using terrible wigs for disguise . Many doors were slammed in their faces.
George Michael was the first white male vocalist ever to record with legend Aretha Franklin. "I knew you were waiting". It topped the charts in numerous countries.
Aretha bought a love gift to the Detroit studio for George. A huge rack of barbecued ribs. He turned them down. She ate them all.
The album "Faith" won best album Grammy in 1988, two Ivor Novello Songwriter of the year awards, International Hit of the Year, American Music Awards, Favourite male Vocalist (pop/rock), Favourite Male Artist (soul R&B) and Favourite Album (Soul R&B).
George loves Golden Labradors. Hippy, who he had for 500 years used to follow him to the door as he left with his designer shoes in her mouth, singing. She didn't care who he was.
In his video "Freedom 90", George passed on a personal appearance, mystifying his record company, but casting Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford, who sang the words to the song and created a new breed of video and underlining a new word; Supermodel.
In 1993 he sued Sony attempting to break free of his contract. The judge ruled in favour of Sony.
In 2003 he re-signed with Sony. They get on better these days.
"Older", released in 1996 earned multi-platinum/gold status in 34 countries and went five times Platinum in the UK.
George was arrested for 'lewd conduct' in a public toilet 1998.
The video for "Outside" was hardly ever played in the U.S.
"Ladies and Gentlemen" achieved eight times Platinum in the UK.
The video for "As" featured dozens of George's and Mary J. Bliges'. An Indian mini-cab driver nightly escorted home one of the George Michael 'lookalike' extras from the six day video shoot. The driver put the man up in his house, vacating his bed for him. He believed the extra to be George Michael. The man never told him otherwise.
"Freeek!" was number one in six countries.
"Shoot the Dog" with it's accompanying satirical video wasn't enjoyed by many members of the British Government.
"Patience" his latest album is due out in March. The single, "Amazing", will be released to radio January 23rd.
It's been eight years since the last George Michael album. Thanks for waiting.
