    G. Love's upcoming release The Hustle is an invitation to spend long days lounging on the front porch listening to songs about love, life and lemonade.

Garrett Dutton - a.k.a G. Love - has reenlisted Special Sauce, James "Jimi Jazz" Prescott on upright bass, and Jeffrey "The Houseman" Clemens on drums to complete the Philadelphonic Sound. G. Love and Special Sauce take their cues from many musicians including John Lee Hooker, Bob Dylan and De La Soul. When the self-titled debut was released in 1994, hits like "Cold Beverages" and "Baby's Got Sauce" showcased the group's fresh sound, now commonly referred to as the Hip Hop Blues (a term coined by G. Love himself.) The album G. Love & Special Sauce is certified gold.

A decade later, G. Love is proud to release a new collection of songs attesting to his musical foundation and the progression of The Hip Hop Blues. The Hustle is a reflection of G's past three years including everything from starting a family, being a father, losing a girl, and hustling a new deal. "For the first time, I'm not singing about the world as I'd like it to be," says G. Love, "I'm singing about the way it is." On the stripped down "Garage Phunk" jam "Astronaut, " G. Love wishes he could blast off from of a bad breakup. Summer days spent kicking back, playing guitar, and watching the world go by are summed up on "Front Porch Lounger." Produced by Mario Caldato Jr, Chris DiBeneditto, and The Special Sauce the album features appearances by Jack Johnson, Money Mark, Jason Yates (Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals), Chuck Treece. The Hustle reintroduces listeners to that foot stompin' G. Love sound. The Hustle marks the band's sixth release and it's first since 2001 and will be the third full-length album from Jack Johnson's label Brushfire Records. Jack
Johnson and G. Love's friendship began in 1999 when they met surfing just south of Malibu in Topanga. They surfed and swapped tunes that lead to an early version of "Rodeo Clowns" which they eventually recorded for G. Love's 1999 release Philadelphonic (Sony/Epic). They stayed in touch, played shows once in awhile and then teamed up again on "Rainbow" for the Thicker Than Water soundtrack. When Jack started Brushfire, G. Love was free from other label commitments so signing the band to the new imprint was a natural progression. Brushfire Records will release The Hustle on August 24th, 2004. G. Love will start touring with the Brushfire family the very next day and there's no telling where he will end up. Stay tuned. The Philly Kid won't disappoint.
