Eldorado Red was born in Harlem during time when pimps, 80s era hustlers, and number runners ruled the streets of New York City. He quickly incorporated all their traits into the rhymes he spit while hustling in front of the corner Bodega on 108th St. and 3rd Ave. His latest release, Rick Rock Presents Eastside Rydah Vol. 1 showcases his upbringing, influences and roots.

As a young teen, Red was a bit too much for his family to handle, so he was sent to live with his grandmother in Alabama. During his time in Alabama, the dirty south genre of music burst onto the scene and Red quickly caught on to the bounce style of his down south counter parts. He became the only member of his crew with the lyrical ability of an East Coast M.C. but blended and delivered with a Down South Twang.

He then took his flow, persona and realism of street life to the east coast and west coast. Performing on DJ Radio Street Sweepers Vol. 2 – and Demolition Man – Bay Area and DJ Strong with DJ Warrior mix tape Palm Tress and Gangsta, Big Von of KMEL radio, The Block.

Red’s multifaceted persona is evidenced by the fact that he’s releasing two singles – one for the streets and one for the mainstream. The Street single is “Solija to the End” and is produced by Rob Tewlow aka Reef, who also produced 50 cent’s “Whattup Gangsta.” The mainstream single is “Huslter’s Wife” which was produced by Rick Rock (of 2Pac, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Fabolous and E-40 fame) and is undoubtedly intended for the ladies.

Of the release he says: “ This is a street Classic, front to back gutta music,… if you like unsaturated, unadulterated hip hop, this is the album you want to cop.” He continues, “[The album is a] backdrop to pain, the pain and trails and tribulations of my life- - this is the theme music to my life.”

Eldorado Red has been going strong every since he recorded his first demo with Afrika Bambatta’s right hand man Jazzy J in 1994. Now, only in his early 20’s, he’s ready to claim his spot amongst the rap elite. His first street release, Rick Rock Presents Eastside Rydah Vol. 1, is being released on independent record label Liquor Barrel/SMC Recordings. Signing with the company was an important step for Red, “I was not ready to put out a full complete album on a major. I wanted to test the waters and put out a release instead of just mixtapes – Liquor Barrel/SMC Recordings was a good platform to get my music out. I wanted the streets to hear some original songs.”

No other unsigned artist out of Harlem has the fan base that Red has - from the West to East coast. El Dorado Red is more than an unsigned hype he’s the music industry’s next big star.
