Alt-rockers Eagles of Death Metal will support their forthcoming album, "Heart On," with a North American run this fall.
The duo, featuring Jesse "Boots Electric" Hughes and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Joshua "Babyduck" Homme, just finished a short co-headlining jaunt with The Hives and will return to the road starting October 30th with The Duke Spirit starting in Seattle. Eagles of Death Metal are scheduled to play more than 20 clubs and theaters across the US and into Canada through late November.
EODM insinuated on their MySpace page that the upcoming jaunt is just the first leg of what will develop into a world tour to support "Heart On."
The album, due October 28th on Downtown Recordings, features a host of guests, including Distillers frontwoman (and Homme's wife) Brody Dalle and celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D. The first single, "Wannabe in LA," is now impacting Alternative and streaming at the duo's MySpace page, along with video clips that give fans a look into the making of the record.
Eagles of Death Metal are also getting ready for "Heart On" with a promotion at Denny's. The restaurant has included the band on its inaugural Rockstar Menu for late-night dining. Hughes tapped into his culinary skills to develop "Heart On A Plate," which includes heart-shaped pancakes with raspberry sauce, hot fudge, strawberries, white chocolate chips and whipped cream.
"Heart On" will follow EODM's most recent studio set, 2006's "Death By Sexy," which reached No. 11 on the Top Independent Albums chart.
"Heart On is about our love affair with L.A.," says Hughes. "Every song is almost like a storybook." Amongst the chapters: "Secret Plans," a power-chord tune about a run-in with a Hollywood drug dealer.
"A very weird and high-ranking dealer in L.A. had me over one night," Hughes explains of the song's birth. "He told me about this rad stuff he had, and when I got there I said, 'Yeah, but I don't see it. What's up?' Later I went to Josh's [Homme] house and sat down and wrote the lyric 'I want it/But I don't see it.' Boom. That's how songs write themselves, you know? I'm shameless... I'll take it from anything."
