From Bedhead to Motorhead, Dirty on Purpose's sound has been labelled all over the map - shoegaze, indie pop, experimental, space rock and dream pop. In the end, they defy categorisation. With four songwriters and three main vocalists, Dirty on Purpose create songs that are original, while paying tribute to their influences. While they are an integral part of the Brooklyn music scene in New York , they shouldn't be written off as another hipster band. The four guys in Dirty on Purpose have come from all over the East Coast - Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts and Virginia - after meeting through friends in New York, and have been together since 2002. Following the buzz of their Sleep Late For a Better Tomorrow EP, Dirty on Purpose have just released their debut full length, Hallelujah Sirens, on North Street Records in June of 2006. They beautifully combine sonic washes of noise with delicate, pretty harmonies on Hallelujah Sirens, which features 10 tracks spanning from upbeat songs like "No Radio" and "Monument" to songs that build up slowly and explode like "Always Looking" and " Fake Lakes ."

Hallelujah Sirens has garnered the praise of publications like Pitchfork, Filter, Spin, Alternative Press, MTV and Entertainment Weekly. They are currently wrapping up their first U.S. tour, which included performances at festivals like the Village Voice's Siren Music Festival in Coney Island, NY with bands like the Scissor Sisters, Stars, Tapes 'n Tapes, She Wants Revenge, The Cribs and more, and San Diego Street Scene with bands like Tool, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Wu Tang Clan, The Shins, Bloc Party and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Along the way, they've stopped by key radio stations like WOXY in Cincinnati , KEXP in Seattle and Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles .
Now they’re due to visit the UK , and bring their wall of sound across the pond! Visit the Dirty On Purpose website for more information.
