As the release of The Deadly Syndrome’s Dim Mak debut looms, the Silver Lake quartet has begun counting down the weeks with a video series curated by the folks over at The Tripwire. Every Monday, the band will premiere a new short created in support of September 11th’s The Ortolan. The first two – “Kablamo” and “Doug” – are available here, and here, respectively. In case you’re new to these fresh-faced LA boys, here’s a bit of background. Winning over most of Los Angeles in less than six months, The Deadly Syndrome went from a back porch idea to a legitimate force, taking stages with more-than-buzz bands like Cold War Kids and Klaxons. Following closely behind was a deal with Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, and a string of sold-out dates at Spaceland. And now, the album!

This fall finds the band playing some choice California dates, like the LA Weekly Detour Festival, October 6th in lovely downton Los Angeles. Last year's fest featured the likes of Beck, Queens of the Stoneage, Basement Jaxx, Blonde Redhead and many more. In addition, they’ve been asked to join Kenna, Pop Levi and many others in Filter Magazine’s Revenge of the Sunset Strip series at the Roxy. Also on the docket is a Now Blog This event in Glendale, where LA bloggers are asked to present their favorite band. Thank Passion of the Weiss for this one! Also appearing will be Le Switch (present by Aquarium Drunkard), Aushua ( courtesy of Buzz Bands) and Phoenix and the Turtle (thanks to LA-Underground).

What the press is saying about The Deadly Syndrome:

"This hodgepodge of old and new friends began messing around, making noise in the guesthouse of a little ranch, and soon played their first “show” on the porch for some pals. Within months, they were appearing on bills with Silver Lake’s biggest bands (including Cold War Kids and Monsters Are Waiting) and had earned a reputation for explosively energetic live shows..." – LA Weekly

"In just a few a short months they are already getting airplay on Indie 103.1, delighting crowds from Sunset to the Eastside, and creating quite a buzz in the A&R world... " – Rock Insider

"There is a Los Angeles band that has played less than 10 shows in its history. They are great. Already. They will be greater.” – Sean Moeller of Daytrotter.com

“Maybe live, maybe on other parts of the record, but there will be no Arcade Mouse Parade here. Instead, ‘Winter In You’ has a sense of Tim Buckley's woozy longing, shifting gears with a swift key change into a surrealist-folkie hook.” - Stereogum
