Daddy Yankee’s first studio album since his latest multi-platinum production El Cartel: The Big Boss in 2007, which promeses to break all the music schemes. Talento de Barrio: El Soundtrack, from his label El Cartel Records, it’s presenting “Pose” as the first official single of the new álbum. This sound track, marks Daddy Yankee’s actor debut as well, and it will be on sale July 15, 2008 to continue expand the power of the reggueton industry with special participation of Tempo and Arcángel, and producers Eli "El Musicólogo" and Menace. For Daddy Yankee, Talento de Barrio: El Soundtrack marks a gigantic step in his phenomenal career, which has taken him from the hoods of San Juan, Puerto Rico, to being named one of 100 more influential in the world by the Time magazine and receiving a tribute by the prestigious University of Harvard.
"This CD goes by the hand of the film. It is a concept of urban music from the street, but we took the flavor from the street and we evolved it to produce new ideas and themes", said the international star from Puerto Rico, where he continues sharpening the details of this new production.
In spite of the diversity, Talento de Barrio: El Soundtrack presents dance, social and romantic subjects, all are related to the movie that will release this summer, and relates the fight that young people to move forward even though their circumstances try to prevent it.
"Pose" presents a mix of hip hop, disco, latin, and afro american rhythm with a touch of European music. "When I give shows I see that everybody has a camera and are giving the best pose, especially the women. It seemed peculiar how we always want to look out best, and from there I got the inspiration of this theme" , said the singer.
The urban public could enjoy a first taste of Talento de Barrio: El Soundtrack with the diffusion of “Somos calle", that also counts with a video.
El Cartel: The Big Boss was the top selling album of 2007, and received the distinction of Album Of the Year in the Billboard Awards in 2008, by over one a million copies world-wide.
In the 2006, its CD/DVD live edition of “Barrio Fino en Directo” was the most sold Latin album in 2006, according to Billboard magazine. Daddy Yankee was named Artist of the Year in the Latin Music Billboard Awards and in MTV Video Music Awards Latin America, Composer of the Year in ASCAP and Urban Artist of the year in “Premios Lo Nuestro” of Univisión. Next to the honor of Time magazine, People in Spanish named him between 100 most influential in its edition of the past January.
