It's strange that the trajectory of indie-rock has recently abandoned the once-trademarked standard of fuzzed-out sonics and endearingly sloppy guitar melodies. Cezanne's mini-album Breaking Bats For Jesus sounds like it could've come out of Chapel Hill or Charlottesville circa 1993, but the songs have a power to rise above mere-throwback status and into their own post-slacker stratosphere. Cezanne is the now-NYC based one man band of John Daugherity, who has previously recorded under the name Ten Everlasting Seconds. Possessing a voice pitched almost flawlessly between worn and ragged, and airy and smooth, these seven songs instill fond remembrances of past peaks set by folks like Chavez, Archers Of Loaf and Pavement. No-nonsense indie-rock and roll like this is pretty hard to find nowadays, so why don't you let Cezanne transport you back to better days? All tracks clean.

    Biography
Cezanne is the brainchild of John Daugherity, first heard as Ten Everlasting Seconds on 2003's Stranger Things Don't Happen. Daugherity wrote all the tunes, did all the vocals and plays guitar, bass, keyboards and drums on both his solo outings. He even did the art - DIY indeed.

Daugherity has been writing songs since he picked out his first one on his father's synthesizer at age 5. A self-taught guitarist, Daugherity led a high school basement punk band, Derelict, in St. Louis where he honed his vocal style. While in college at Oklahoma, he played in the post-industrial group Room 101. In 2003, he recorded his first solo album -- Stranger Things Don't Happen -- in College Station, Texas under the name Ten Everlasting Seconds. After meeting WFMU 91.1 disc jockey Dan Mackta at Austin's famed music showcase South by Southwest in 2004, Daugherity's tunes - as Cezanne -- began to get airplay in New York City. Cezanne/Daugherity relocated to New York on June 1, 2005 to continue his musical odyssey.
