On Tuesday, July 26, 2005 GRP Records will release It’s On Tonight, a brand new album from Brian Culbertson. This recording is the chart-topping and award-winning multi-instrumentalist’s first for GRP Records, the longtime leader in the contemporary jazz genre.

It’s On Tonight is a solid set of 12 sensual tunes featuring Culbertson on piano, trumpet, trombone, keyboards, bass, synth bass, drum programming, percussion, and even background vocals. Culbertson doesn’t do it all himself, however; he’s enlisted some of the top names from the worlds of R&B and contemporary jazz for help. The special guests featured on It’s On Tonight include the vocalists Patti Austin and Ledisi, sax men Boney James and Kirk Whalum, and trumpet star Chris Botti. Culbertson’s GRP labelmate, the beloved singer Will Downing, heats things up on the title track, the romantic, fiery, and sexy, “It’s On Tonight.” "This album has over 60 minutes of music to do one thing... get you in the mood,” Culbertson admits.

Showcased throughout It’s On Tonight is Culbertson’s trademark sound, a modern blend of pop, R&B, and contemporary jazz grooves with an ultra-sexy pulse and the delicious taste of romance. Says Culberston, "It's the CD you put on after the kids go to sleep.” The album kicks off with the smooth yet crisp “Let’s Get Started” and also includes such songs as the tender “The Way You Feel” (featuring Boney James) and the silky sounds of “Secret Affair” (featuring Chris Botti). Culbertson wrote or co-wrote all of the songs from It’s On Tonight, his eighth album, including “Hookin’ Up,” “Dreaming Of You,” and “Reflections.” He will bring these passionate tunes and more to fans throughout the summer and fall with an extensive live tour.

Culbertson has been turning up the heat since 1994, when he released his debut CD while he was still in college. But even before then, his talents as a composer and performer were widely known, as the young prodigy earned student awards from Down Beat as well as countless other accolades. Inspired by his musician father, Jim, Culbertson’s prowess was quickly displayed after beginning on the piano at eight years old.

It’s On Tonight was produced and arranged by Brian Culbertson with several songs co-produced and arranged by Stephen Lu. The executive producer of the album is The Verve Music Group’s Bud Harner.
