33Hz long awaited debut album self titled 33Hz will be available April 26th at fine music retailers country wide including New York’s renowned independent music store, Other Music and Beatport.com..

    33HZ

33Hz pulls from their influences of Hall and Oats, Prince and Slave to create music that is more about the feeling and the movement on the dance floor rather than being dictated by a genre or trend. The digital electro-pop sound is the result of layering 80’s pop with 90’s dance all combined with the harmonies of today’s R&B.

Featuring 13 tracks, the initial effort from this Brooklyn sound-system is a luscious collection of grooving pop numbers that sound refreshingly original yet feel warmly familiar. Utilizing analog synthesizers, Linn drums and funk guitars the sound of 33Hz will evoke memories of the golden age of pop and move listeners on to their feet and out to the dance floor. The album was recorded and produced by 33Hz in their Williamsburg, NY studio and mixed by Cyrille Tailandier (R. Kelly, Lenny Kravitz) at various studios in New York and Colorado and was mastered by the legendary Herb Powers Jr. at the Hit Factory in New York City.

33Hz has gained a notable reputation around New York City for their packed performances at Joe’s Pub, Arlene Grocery, Luna Lounge and Piano’s. They are going to be taking their four-piece performance nationwide this summer when they embark on a coast-to-coast tour. Biography

If Hz is a unit of frequency then 33 Hz will amplify their audience into a realm of sound unlike the common wave. More of a sound sensation, it is four guys sharing the same wavelength, working together to create a timeless sound of freedom and capturing the essence of a time when music wasn’t as much about being genre-specific as was about getting people moving on the dance floor.

In 1998, Benny Lowe (vocals, guitar), Tim Wagner (keyboards), Gabe Moon (drums) and Rafe Terrizzi (bass, keyboards, vocals) collaborated to form a 70’s inspired future-rock ensemble. Pulling influence from their various musical backgrounds as well as their collaborative influences of 70’s glam rock and 80’s dance music, 33hz was able to forge a sound that is reminiscent of their inspiration of Chic, Steely Dan, Prince and Michael Jackson.

The early sound of 33hz took a bulbous rolling bass, synth stutters and drum machine swing with an improvisational break beat that led to many sessions incorporating freestyle rap at lower eastside’s Baby Jupiters. 33hz would soon include new wave and no wave elements into their continually evolving sound.

“The foundation of all of those sessions carries into what we do now, “ says Tim. “It works from the bottom, from bass and drums. As long as there is a strong groove, any genre or style that goes over it has a very different output. When you include Benny’s harmonies over those diverse beats, that is what really makes it.”

In an age when garage rock is known throughout New York City, 33hz stands out with their unique electro-pop sound. The sonic styles combining distinctive blue-eyed soul and fun lyrics, produces music that can be played anywhere for anyone looking to help the band find the party.

As Tim says, “It’s like there is this fictional party constantly going on inside our heads, it started sometime between 1979 and 1982 and we are looking to find, start or rock that party”.

    Benny Lowe – vocals, guitar
    Tim Wagner – keyboard
    Gabe Moon – drums
Rafe Terrizi – bass, keyboard, vocals
